Kent Jarrell

Kent Jarrell is a senior communications consultant assisting CEOs, general counsels, boards of directors, and law firms in the preparation and response to unfolding material events.

He is the former global head of APCO Worldwide’s Crisis Management and Litigation Communications practice.

Experience includes:

  • Litigation and crisis communications advisor for global pharmaceutical companies concerning products involving litigations, investigations, and FDA regulations.
  • Crisis communications advisor for Ford, eBay, Alaska Airlines, Walmart, ExxonMobil, University of Southern California, and MD Anderson Cancer Center,
  • Litigation communications for defendants in litigation that led to the creation and funding of the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund.
  • Advisor and spokesman for the Liquidation Trustees for MF Global Inc. and Lehman Brothers, Inc. in bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Advisor to Hewlett-Packard’s board of directors during the resignation of the company’s CEO.
  • Advisor to the President of Mexico during the H1N1 epidemic in Mexico City.

As a broadcast journalist for more than 20 years, Mr. Jarrell was a National Correspondent and reported on crises, including the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island, the crash of TWA Flight 800, the Ethiopian famine, the first Persian Gulf War, terrorism in Europe, the U.S. conflict in Panama and the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. Based in Washington, Mr. Jarrell reported from forty-one states and thirteen countries and covered five U.S. presidents.

Mr. Jarrell also produced radio documentaries for the British Broadcasting
Corporation in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Jarrell received a Master of Science in journalism from Northwestern
University’s Medill School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in public
communications with a concentration in history from Boston University’s School
of Public Communications. He also attended colleges and universities in
Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Jarrell has served as a media spokesman in several cases and handled
negotiations for several clients with television investigative shows, including 60
Minutes, Frontline, and Dateline.

Mr. Jarrell is the lead author of Effectively Managing the Social Media Invasion of
the Legal System in the In-House Defense Quarterly published by the Defense
Research Institute. He also authored Litigation Communication: A Road Map to
an Emerging Art published by the National Legal Center. He has been
recognized by PRWeek as Crisis Communicator of the Year.
